Clare Xanthos, PhD, MSc is a social scientist whose research interests focus on social determinants of health and health care inequities. She is a Research Assistant Professor at Morehouse School of Medicine, within the Department of Community Health and Preventive Medicine and the Satcher Health Leadership Institute; and a MSCR Fellow at the Clinical Research Center, Morehouse School of Medicine.
During her employment at the Morehouse School of Medicine, Dr. Xanthos has been involved in a wide range of projects relating to social determinants of health/ health inequities issues. She authored two important policy briefs relating to social determinants of health and mental health among African-American men and boys. In addition, she is the lead author of a groundbreaking article entitled “Social Determinants of Health among African American Men” published in the Journal of Men’s Health.
Dr. Xanthos received her PhD in Social Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where she was the recipient of several scholarships/awards. Additionally, she holds a Masters degree in Housing Studies, and a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences. Dr. Xanthos has lived and worked in several countries including the USA, Barbados, and the U.K.
